Tyler Hansbrough 2008 NBA Draft Prospect
Many fans see Tyler Hansbrough play on the college level and think that he could be a superstar on the NBA level. However, NBA scouts don’t see it that way. Despite another great season from Hansbrough at North Carolina, he isn’t expected to be much higher than a late first round pick.
To say Hansbrough has had a great season this year would be short-changing him. He’s averaging about 23 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting nearly 54% from the floor. He has North Carolina streaking toward the Final Four and great shot at a national championship.
The problem with Hansbrough when it comes to the NBA is his height and his athleticism. Although he’s listed at 6-foot-9, the common thinking in NBA circles is he is actually closer to 6-foot-7. Hansbrough isn’t much of an athlete, which could become more obvious on the NBA level.
An NBA team in the first round will likely give Hansbrough a chance but he’s going to have to prove a lot of scouts wrong to become successful. He’s viewed as much more Eduardo Najera than Kevin McHale.
In your dynasty fantasy basketball league, it’d be best to pass on Hansbrough as he’s likely overrated. Let another team rich for him.

I dont care what anyone says hansbrough is the hardest working player in basketball and I see where the talent part is a big issue but definitely should be top 15(player of the year).

“Although he’s listed at 6-foot-9, the common thinking in NBA circles is he is actually closer to 6-foot-7.” Um, this is pretty unlikely. I guess everyone else on the team is an inch or two shorter than listed. And the other 6′9″ guys he’s played against are closer to 6′7″.

i have loved the tar heels for as long and i remember…and tyler is my favorite since m.j. but i really dont think tyler is ready for the NBA, and if he does go i think he will get eaten up by the player..i hope he stays in college for now.

It would be a shame to the the NBA take another perfectly good player like Tyler and ruin him like they have so many great players - hope he stays another year and then finds a real job.

i am a hugeeeee unc fan and an even bigger tyler hansbrough fan.. you have no idea. but i believe that is hansbrough stayed at unc and finished his senior year.. that would be the best for him and the carolina tarheels. they need him. he carries that team on his shoulders. dont get me wrong unc has many talented players but hansbrough is the best (hense player of the year 2 years in a row) look at JJ reddick for example he was soo good in college even though i hate duke more than anything im willing to admit that. and now he is nothing playing for the Orland Magic and maybe playing 3 minutes(on a good night).. please stay hansbrough!
