Top Ten Fantasy Basketball Players
According to Yahoo standard scoring, these are the top ten current fantasy basketball players on the 2007-08 season. There are a couple surprises but the list is mostly comprised of big name players.
1) LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
A lot of people nitpicked James’ fantasy game coming into this season. However, that now looks foolish as James is off to one of the best starts in NBA history. He’s basically averaging 32, 8, 8, 2 and 2. Just sick, sick numbers.
2) Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics
Garnett hasn’t disappointed in his new home. He’s putting up great fantasy numbers and was rated number one before James exploded. However, if you picked Garnett near the top of the draft, you have to be really happy with what he’s done.
3) Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Bryant’s all-around numbers are solid this season. His scoring isn’t quite as good as it usually is but he’s making up for it in other areas. That said, expect Bryant’s scoring to rise as the season goes on.
4) Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets
The only thing that has kept Paul from cracking the top three is an ankle injury. He’s having a fantastic year and is easily the best fantasy point guard to have right now. If you used a late first or early second round pick on him, you have to be ecstatic.
5) Caron Butler, Washington Wizards
Butler has busted onto the scene as of late. With Gilbert Arenas out for an extended period of time, Butler has used the opportunity to get more shots and he’s producing greatly. Over the last week, the only player better has been LeBron.
6) Shawn Marion, Phoenix Suns
While being sixth isn’t horrible, it’s a little low for Marion. Marion has made a fantasy living by always being near the top. The problem is his scoring and shooting percentages are all down. If he can start scoring better, he’ll jump back up to his perch near the top.
7) Carlos Boozer, Utah Jazz
Boozer was expected to be good this season – but he’s been great. He’s averaging 25 points and 12 boards on the season, plus he’s shooting the ball very well. Boozer is a great player to have on your team because he’s been very consistent this year.
8) Marcus Camby, Denver Nuggets
As always, Camby is a monster when healthy. So far this season, Camby has remained healthy. He’s averaging nearly 15 rebounds, over three assists and over three blocks. Continue to ride him as long as he’s healthy.
9) Ron Artest, Sacramento Kings
Artest missed a good chunk of the season due to suspension but since his return, he’s been terrific. His stat line has been superb and he’s on pace to have a career year. If you waited out his suspension, you are getting the reward right now.
10) Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns
Nash is having another great season. He’s amazingly shooting better than ever. In fact, he hasn’t missed a free throw yet this season. His points and assists are great and he’s still playing a very healthy amount of minutes.
