Darren Collison 2008 NBA Draft Prospect
When it comes to pure point guards, few in the 2008 NBA Draft class can match Darren Collison’s skills. Collison, who currently has UCLA in the Final Four, is a team-first point guard who can do it all.
His ballhandling is very solid. He can pass the ball. He’s an accomplished scorer. Shooting-wise, he’s one of the best in the nation – from the field, from beyond the arc and from the free throw line. Defensively, he has the potential to be a lockdown defender.
The main knock on him is his size. At 6-feet and 160 pounds, Collison is a tiny point guard prospect. To truly thrive in the NBA, Collison is going to have add some weight and some strength. However, with the recent success of smallish point guards such as Chris Paul and TJ Ford, Collison’s stock should remain high despite this flaw.
Overall, Collison is a player who should be drafted in the late lottery. A lot of NBA teams are looking for an upgrade at the point guard position and will be wowed by Collison’s potential. He’s never going to be a great player on the NBA level but he’s certainly a guy who can average 15 points and seven assists on a consistent basis.

Agree. Think Collison has the skills to make it big in the NBA.

The game against Memphis showed that Collison is not ready for the NBA any time soon. Rose versus Collison is like a monster versus a baby. Russell Westbrook has a much better future in the NBA. Instead of worring about the NBA Collison needs to worry about maintaining is position against UCLA signee Malcom Lee next year.

The Truth is correct. Collison is not an NBA caliber player. He showed his lack of ability during the NCAA playoffs.

Collison will be a role player in the worst case and a back-up in the best case as his career unfolds he hasn’t proved he’s NBA ready
