Andrew Bynum Injury Update
In the third quarter of the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, Andrew Bynum fell to the ground after landing awkwardly on Lamar Odom’s foot. Bynum suffered ankle and knee injuries on the play. He was assisted to the locker room.
After the game, Bynum said he was able to stand but that it hurt to walk. The initial diagnosis is a sprained knee but there will be an MRI tomorrow.
In the fantasy world, this isn’t good news for Bynum owners, obviously. If it’s a sprain, the Lakers will likely be overly cautious in terms of bringing him back. With that in mind, a sprain will likely sideline him about two to three weeks.
However, a sprain would be good news. The bad news would be if the MRI shows something more. Any damage to a ligament will likely cause him to miss the rest of the season.
Keep your eyes and ears open for the MRI results. If you are a Bynum owner, hope it’s just a sprain. In the meantime, players on the Lakers who should see immediate gains in minutes are Kwame Brown and Ronny Turiaf.
